The Recommendation

“I have the coldest bedroom. But this fancy space heater finally did the trick.”

Staff writer and resident home heating expert Thom Dunn has tested dozens of space heaters over the years. “But I’d never seen anything quite like this,” he writes of this rectangular sheet of glass that “hangs ominously on the wall.”

Is it handsome? Definitely. But does this very sleek and expensive space heater—which uses far infrared heat to warm skin directly—actually work? Or is it just a gimmicky marketing ploy wrapped in modernist Instagram-aesthetic packaging?

There was only one way to know for sure: Thom had to install one in his own home, which required drilling some anchors and hoisting the 20- to 30-pound sheet of glass onto the wall. And it turns out, while it’s not perfect, it is surprisingly good in a lot of ways.

This space heater is more than just a pretty face→
