Uber vs. Seattle: The city overstepped its bounds with a new law that regulates how platforms can deactivate app-based workers who deliver food, shop for groceries, and complete other tasks via on-demand apps, Uber alleges in a new suit against the city. The law, passed in 2023, is set to take effect in January. Uber is asking the court to block it. Read more.

Amazon warehouse safety settlement: The tech giant and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced an agreement to settle most of the cases brought by OSHA over allegations of hazardous working conditions in the e-commerce giant’s warehouses, although the two sides put somewhat different spins on the deal.
