How extensions trick Chrome Web Store search

Apparently, some extension authors figured out that the Chrome Web Store search index is shared across all languages.

If you wanted to show up in the search when people look for your competitors for example, you could add their names to your extension’s description – but that might come across as spammy.

So what you do instead is sacrificing some of the “less popular” languages and stuff the descriptions there full of relevant keywords.

And then your extension starts showing up for these keywords even when they are entered in the English version of the Chrome Web Store.

The first mini project of 2025, I made a Chrome extension that simply dubs videos on YouTube. It's been a long time since the final version was made, but I wanted to share it. I actually had the idea when I was going to make a mini home assistant with a Raspberry Pi. I'm open to suggestions about the extension 😅

Due to a lot of work with the agency and other ventures He has no more time to continue to develop and maintain the extension.
