What our style experts are wearing this spring—and what’s on sale

Clockwise, from left to right: A pair of sunglasses on a light blue background, a person waring high-waisted jeans and white sneakers on a pink background, and gray rain boots on a light pink background.

Our style experts are eyeing some smart closet upgrades for the season—including a rain jacket you can wear anywhere, chic Adidas sneakers, some cozy hoodies, and basic white tees that layer well. Also? A few of our favorites are on sale right now, making it a very good time for a little seasonal closet refresh. Nice.

Your daily deals: Some cult-favorite skin care, home-decor steals, and more

NYT Wirecutter
  • A bedside lamp that doubles as a charger: This small lamp has two USB ports, so you can charge your phone and other gadgets as you sleep. Senior staff writer and home-decor expert Joshua Lyon affectionately calls it “a hardworking little lamp.”
  • A serum for glassy skin: One or two pumps of this gloopy, hydrating snail mucin serum leaves skin smooth, soft, and, for one of our testers, “practically poreless.”
  • Our absolute favorite flashlight: Just larger than a Sharpie, this handy flashlight has four brightness levels ranging from a low, gentle glow to a searing beacon—plus an easy-to-use two-button interface. It’s certainly an upgrade from the flashlight you’ve got on your phone.
  • An actually comfortable (and dare we say, chic?) folding mattress: Rather than subjecting your guests to a leaky air mattress, consider this tri-fold, which is significantly more comfortable and functional.
  • A down jacket that won’t make you look like a marshmallow: Senior staff writer Alexander Aciman has been wearing this durable down jacket for no less than 12 consecutive winters. It’s warm enough to be worn without layering—and can be smushed down into roughly the size of a burrito.
