Year-to-date (YTD), digital health startups have raised  over $9.5B across 850+ deals. While funding for the space took a hit in April, it came back significantly the following month. And with June behind us, we can see that deals reached another record high at 196.

The uptick of deals in June was driven by attention to early-stage companies. While early-stage deals (angel/seed and Series A) have made up 57% of total deals YTD, this percentage rose nearly 10 points for the month of June. 

Just this week, healthcare AI startup Owkin, which uses machine learning to improve drug discovery and development, raised $18M in the fifth tranche of its Series A. We picked the company for both our Digital Health 150 and AI 100 lists.
