Issue 188 — July 05, 2020

Hey, here's issue #188 of your weekly Switch round-up, with the news you need to see.

Earlier this week I asked on Twitter who you feel is influential in the Nintendo space, I got a handful of good responses, but wanted to flag it here in case you had any suggestions to throw in the hat! Reply to the tweet or this email if you do.

This week I've been playing Urban Flow (I dig it, good for super short play sessions!) and puzzler The Almost Gone (more from me on that when I've finished my review). I've still not got round to trying Ninjala — which brings me to my Question of the Week:

💬 Have you tried Ninjala? If so, what are your initial impressions / thoughts on it?
📨
(Hit reply to this email & I may feature some of the best responses in the next isssue.)

Just under 25 games games dropping on the eShop next week, including Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, Superliminal, Catherine: Full Body and Story of Seasons. Full list below as usual.

Thanks for reading,
Chris ✌️

Nintendo condemns abuse as allegations spread across Smash Bros. community — Earlier this week a series of serious sexual misconduct allegations came to light about those in the competitive Smash Bros. esports space. Nintendo (who many lamented for not supporting the esports scene in any serious capacity) has now spoken out on these abuse claims, calling them "absolutely impermissible" and deeply disturbing.

James Batchelor // gamesindustry

Nintendo’s president issues first Joy-Con drift apology — Now, this is not particularly a full-throated expression of regret about this widespread issue but still, finally something from the top.

Andy Robinson // VGC

Crysis Remastered Switch gameplay leaks, but now Crytek has delayed it — A few more weeks for some added polish.

Ben Kerry // Nintendo Enthusiast

PREVIEW Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town — If you miss the classic Harvest Moon games this sounds like a good fit, chiefly because it's a remake of the 2003 GBA original. Out next week in the EU, week after in the U.S.

Renate Plehwe // Switch Player

REVIEW The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III — "For those willing to invest in playing through or reading into the first two entries, Trails of Cold Steel 3 is an unmissable experience."

Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report

REVIEW The Otterman Empire — This team shooter comes from just a four-person team and sadly feels "like too ambitious a project" with the end product feeling "incredibly unpolished".

Friday, July 10
