This week’s money mood: “Summer” plans

Summer is different this year. There are a lot of things I’d usually look forward to — ball games, road races, day trips, etc — that are paused for now.

It’s a bummer at the moment, but it’s also given me more time to start visualizing things I’m looking forward to in the long term, like how I want to spend the milestone birthday I have coming up in a few years, whether my partner and I might want to buy a home someday, and what my dream retirement could look like. (I can tell you this much: There will definitely be a lot of books.)

Here’s to the far-off tomorrows, and the steps we take today to make them happen.
