Issue 125 -  New Model Y tail lights in production

Autopilot & FSD

The next big FSD release may arrive in 6 to 10 weeks for Early Access

Elon Musk said he's already driving the bleeding-edge Alpha version of FSD in his car and, in his own words, it's almost at zero interventions between home and work. Elon mentioned this will be available to folks in Early Access in just a few weeks... in Elon's Time™.

Autopilot saved this owner's Model 3 📹

Video of a Model 3 on Autopilot- according to the driver- avoiding a pickup truck. You can see the almost incident from two different angles. That was close!

Software & Hardware Updates

New Model Y tail lights in production cars since 8/13 📹

Tesla has introduced a small incremental hardware change in the Model Y since deliveries started:

  • The new tail lights illuminate just the outer “C” when braking
  • The horizontal turn signal in the center is now an amber (previously red)

Buying a house with a Tesla Powerwall already installed

If you're ever buying a house with Powerwalls, you may realize there isn't much information about how to set it up yet. Reddit user u/SetsChaos has shared their experience, thank you for making it easy for the rest of us! I recommend reading the whole post, but here's a quick summary:

  • Get your gateway online (once you get WiFi in the new house, and here's a guide)
  • Call Tesla support to request a transfer of the Powerwalls ownership. Make sure you have the following 1) copy of your home's deed  2) name of the previous owners
  • Register or re-register in the Tesla app (you'll receive an email to do so)
  • You should be able to log into the app using the info you just provided

Tesla donated 350 charging stations to Parks Canada

The Government of Canada is committed to providing Canadians with practical solutions to reduce emissions. Amongst other initiatives, they're investing a lot in installing EV charging stations near the most popular Parks Canada places across the country. And to help make it happen, Tesla has donated over 350 charging stations to Parks Canada. Way to go, Tesla!

Under the hood

One step closer to playing Destiny or Doom in your Tesla 📹

A few months ago, Mother Frunker tried playing the recently launched Stadia -a cloud gaming service developed and operated by Google- in his Tesla. However, it would not load any game within the Tesla browser. Just last week there have been some updates and... the games will load now, but it's still not possible to connect a controller. So close though! Check out his video with more details, you could be playing Doom while Supercharging soon.

Model 3 cabin filter air quality test and alternatives 📹

This Model 3 owner fixed the smell coming out of his Model 3 air filters but unfortunately, the smell is back. In this video, he shares his perspective on why he thinks this is going to be an annual maintenance item to add to your list. He also shares the results of an air quality test with the OEM filters and compares it with some aftermarket ones. If you're in the market for new filters, I recommend these HEPA cabin filters with activated charcoal to combat bad odors.

What the acronym?

As Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.

  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
  • 2FA - Two-Factor Authentication
  • EV - Electric Vehicle
  • OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer
  • HEPA - High-Efficiency Particulate Air
