The LTSE officially launched yesterday, as shared on Twitter by Eric Ries, the CEO. The high level concept behind the Long Term Stock Exchange is that public companies should have incentives to think longer term about their companies, not just on a quarterly basis, like companies listed on other exchanges. According to a blog post written by Eric, LTSE has been in the making for 9 years. Congrats, Eric!
Bessemer Venture Partners Unveils Shopify Investment Memo
![]() |
Bessemer Venture Partners unveiled the investment memo for Shopify, a company they invested in, from October 10th 2010. It ultimately allows you to take a look back in history on how VCs think, when they were spot on. This matters because as Gary Tan says, “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” There are tons of learning by digging through this relic of history. I encourage any founder or investor take a look.

The Athletic, which is a subscription sports media company, has hit the coveted 1M paid subscriber number. This is significant for many reasons. First off, they were able to accomplish this during a pandemic with no sports for 5 months. Second, it shows how the subscription media model is here to stay, and it works very well when executed on properly. Congrats to the team at The Athletic for this monumental milestone.

Ryan Graves Is Building!
![]() |
Ryan Tweeted some info about a product he is working on called Potluck. Potluck lets you create simple, powerful task lists for teams. This is significant because Ryan Graves was the first employee at Uber, and served on its board of directors until 2019. He has proven to build giant companies before, and although I have no idea if Potluck is intended to be a venture scale product, it’s always interesting to see what Ryan is working on.
