Thank you, teachers.

Zoom fatigue. FaceTime fatigue. Hangout burnout. Whatever you call it, we’re all feeling it. So much so, that sometimes I start to feel bad for myself (and my eyes) ... and then I think about teachers.

And I immediately feel humbled in my job security, privileged to work from home, and thankful that my occupation doesn’t require me to teach the next generation of students online (no pressure).

76% of all public school teachers are women, and 50% of school teachers have children under the age of 18 at home. Now factor in the unpaid labor gaps and emotional labor gaps that already exist for women, and it has become more and more and more difficult for our educators to find any semblance of balance.

In the US today, there are more than 4 million teachers to be grateful for. They are raising our future leaders. They are essential to our communities. And they make the world better for all of us. Let’s keep taking care of ourselves by taking care of our teachers.
