30 Under 30 2021 Revealed | Nielsen Hires Jamie Moldafsky As CMO | BET Networks' Kimberly Paige Talks Content Collaboration

Greetings from the Forbes CMO Network,

This week, Forbes unveiled the 2021 30 Under 30 roster, featuring 600 young entrepreneurs, activists, scientists and journalists, among others, who comprise our 10th annual list. The Marketing & Advertising category features 30 founders, creatives and innovators who are shaping the future of the industry.

This year’s honorees in Marketing & Advertising are helping brands work with a new generation of influencers, make data-driven decisions, find diverse creative voices, and adopt technology for storytelling and audience development. And while some started off at big brands, others are college drop-outs or recent graduates now working with legacy and challenger brands alike. Several members of this year’s 30 Under 30 class sold their companies in 2020 while others have focused on using emerging technologies or collaborating with influencers and entrepreneurs or highlighting creative diversity.

Be sure to check out our complete Marketing & Advertising list as well as the rest of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 coverage.

I also want to give thanks to two Forbes colleagues, Assistant Editor Samantha Todd and Communities Director and CMO Network Chair Jenny Rooney, who helped search, vet and select our final Marketing & Advertising honorees from a pool of hundreds. A special thanks also to our esteemed panel of judges: Travis Montaque, founder and CEO of Holler and Under 30 list alumna; Procter & Gamble Chief Brand Officer Marc Pritchard; Salesforce Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Buscemi; and The DTX Company founder CEO Tim Armstrong.

In other news, the fourth and final episode of our CMO Summit Virtual Series will take place on December 10 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET. We'll be talking about the future of travel with the CMOs of Amtrak, Delta, IHG and Airstream; global marketing with the CMOs of TikTok, Diageo and Harman; and how to mitigate risk and uncertainty with the CMOs of McDonald's, BlackRock, SAP, and CVS Health. We'll also have fireside chats with Adobe EVP and CMO Ann Lewnes and Mastercard Chief Marketing And Communications Officer Raja Rajamannar. Register for this free event.

As always, if you have story ideas or news tips to share, feel free to email us.

Stay well,

Marty

During the third episode of our ongoing Forbes CMO Summit Virtual Series, BET Networks SVP and CMO Kimberly Paige talked about the future of entertainment with Boston Red Sox CMO Adam Grossman and WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon.

Below is an excerpt from the discussion, and catch the full conversation here.

“I think there’s a saying that competition makes you faster but collaboration makes you better, and I think during this unknown time specifically in the area of content production, we have to collaborate. If you think about it, all of our production went to a screeching halt. And so we looked across the Viacom and CBS footprint, we started sharing more content, which was amazing because that was really kind of part of the real insight behind the merger and being able to share content, whether it’s with Showtime or Paramount Studios. So we had to really lean in more in the spirit of collaboration by saying what are your windows in terms of content, what does it look like to cross-promote to keep those viewers engaged and entertained knowing there were so many people at home viewing than ever before."

"I think there’s a saying that competition makes you faster but collaboration makes you better, and I think during this unknown time specifically in the area of content production, we have to collaborate. "
