Some extra terrestrial jams in this week's email! 🌌

Album Daily
#61 - The Week of January 18 - 22

This weekend the CIA released their entire collection of documents related to UFO sightings. Pretty crazy timing because this week our albums are definitely out of this world.

Now, turn your speakers up, and let your mind wander to these jams!

Genre:  Funk
Release Date:  June 21, 2019
Top Tracks:  Colors, Fast Car
Similar Artists:  Leon Bridges, Michael Kiwanuka

Black Pumas exploded onto the scene in 2019/2020 and for good reason. This funky and groove-inducing album will have you feeling like the king or queen of the world that we all know you are. The project is the combination of Adrian Quesada and Eric Burton coming together to produce some powerful harmonies that we as the listener get to relish in.

Wait

Arlie

Genre: Rock
Release Date: September 19, 2018
Top Tracks: Didya Think, Big Fat Mouth, Barcelona Boots
Similar Artists:  Vista Licks, Bay Ledges

Arlie present’s a dose of nostalgia in their debut album. With sentimental lyrics coupled with healthy drums, this 6-track project takes you on a course of mellow moments and classic indie builds. It’s got a hazy almost mythical vibe that brings those sweet or not so sweet high school memories.

Full Circle

Oliver

Genre: Electronic
Release Date:  August 25, 2017
Top Tracks:  Ottomatic, Love Like This, Electrify
Similar Artists: Chromeo, Madeon

Oliver's name does not do him justice on this one. Every song has a nice bass kick that makes you feel more motivated than ever. A little disco, some fun rap here and there, and a futuristic space feel will make you want to find yourself a private conference room cause you just might dance.

Hyperspace (2020)

Beck

Genre: Rock
Release Date: November 22, 2019
Top Tracks:  Uneventful Days, Star - 2020
Similar Artists: The Flaming Lips, Spoon

This was created as a visual album in partnership with Nasa. You'll want to check out the music videos for this one. Add some ear-shaking bass to some acoustic/light guitar and you’ve got yourself Hyperspace (2020). It’s got a really progressive feel and low impact vocals for both calm and energetic times. This would play well while lounging in a hammock out in the woods.

All Your Favorite Bands

Dawes

Genre:  Folk
Release Date:  June 2, 2015
Top Tracks:  Things Happen, All Your Favorite Bands, I Can't Think About It Now
Similar Artists:   The Avett Brothers, Deer Tick, Mandolin Orange

Taylor Goldsmith has been writing incredible songs from the first kick-drum his brother, Griff, hit. The 4th album from the Los Angeles based folk/rock group is aptly titled "All Your Favorite Bands". There's a reason that Dawes chooses to end many of their recent shoes with the title track off the album. The album contains a host of songs to make you reflect, cry and think. Ranging in topics from the usual lost lover, to climate change. If you haven't given Goldsmith's songwriting a listen yet, do yourself a favor and sit down and enjoy this one. Just make sure there's a box of tissues nearby.
