Niche site delegation...like a billionaire?

Scaling a niche site business can seem hard.

In fact, scaling any type of business can be quite difficult.

However, I recently found the story of someone that scaled a business from nothing to one of the largest businesses ever created.

Bill Gates.

At first, Bill Gates wrote every single line of code that Microsoft created. He had a particular eye for detail and didn't trust anyone else to touch the code.

Early on, they needed to hire other coders...but Bill wouldn't let any code get submitted unless he officially reviewed it. (And he very often re-wrote the code they submitted).

But then they started hiring faster...10 employees, 50 employees, 100 employees and it became impossible for him to review the code of every single employee.

He had to learn to let go.

I'll continue the story of Bill Gates below, including a video of him talking about scaling in the early days of Microsoft, but first I wanted to remind you that a special offer is ending this weekend.

The founders of ODYS Global have offered the Niche Pursuits audience a $100 welcome bonus if you sign up for their premium aged domain marketplace.

Registering is free.

You just get $100 off your first domain if you decide to make a purchase.

So, join ODYS Global right here and check out the SEO friendly domains they have.

As a reminder, I did an interview with someone that bought a domain from ODYS Global and quickly grew it from 0 to 13,000 visitors a day in just 8 months.

You can read the ODYS Global success story here.

In the early days of Microsoft, Bill wanted to do all the coding himself.

Then he wanted to do all the hiring and reviewing of code himself.

But they were growing too fast, and he was becoming the bottleneck.

He had to bring in and trust Steve Ballmer to start doing the hiring and getting the right people in place to scale the business.

As the company grew, Bill wasn't even able to meet the people they were hiring.

Sometimes you have to learn to get out of your own way.

If you want to watch Bill Gates tell this story of scaling Microsoft in the early days, you can watch the video right here:

In your niche site business, blog, or any business for that matter...at some point, you have to learn how to delegate in order to scale.

When should I hire writers to replace me?

When should I get an editor to format and post articles?

When should I hire a social media manager?

Should I hire an outreach person?

Only you can answer those questions, but perhaps it's time to start considering those things.

If you want to build a site that is beyond a couple thousand dollars a month, there is likely going to be a time when you will need to start letting go of some tasks and delegating to other people.

I'm writing all this up because I definitely need to hear it. My to-do list is growing and sometimes I struggle to focus on growing the real business because I'm caught in the weeds doing other "stuff".

Good luck to all of us scaling our businesses!
