CMO Next 2021 Virtual Recap | Target Names A New CMO | Mastercard's Raja Rajamannar On His New Book

Good morning,

Companies and government officials are increasingly working together to end the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier today, The Ad Council, Business Roundtable, CDC Foundation and other groups announced a new partnership called the Health Action Alliance. The collaboration aims to accelerate the business community's response, while also building trust in vaccines and providing access to resources. The Ad Council also announced it's exceeded its goal of raising $50 million to promote vaccine education, bringing in a total of $51 million so far from companies including Amazon, Apple, Cisco, Citi, CVS Health, BNY Mellon, ViacomCBS and Wells Fargo.

And in case you missed it, last week we released our CMO Next 2021 list and hosted an accompanying event featuring nearly a dozen top CMOs talking about the future of marketing. Mastercard's Raja Rajamannar Talks About His First Book, 'Quantum Marketing'

Last week, Mastercard Chief Marketing And Communications Officer Raja Rajamannar released his first book, Quantum Marketing: Mastering The New Marketing Mindset For Tomorrow’s Consumers, which is both a call for marketers to embrace technology and change as well as a message encouraging companies to embrace marketing as a business driver. He says technology ranging from VR and AR to AI to 5G will exponentially disrupt marketing far more than mobile computing and social media did just a decade ago.

"My worry is marketers will be completely made redundant or obsolete if they don’t take care of their education now…Otherwise you’ll become a dinosaur of marketing and will be replaced. So there’s an existential threat if you don’t do it, but it a can also be hugely exciting—if you know what to do."
