🤦🏽‍♂️ This site will get penalized by Google

I recently asked for some examples of sites crushing it with SEO traffic in the Niche Pursuits facebook group.

One of the examples shared was this one:

The site has seen a SERIOUS skyrocket in traffic since the December update.

But I predict this site gets penalized in the next 12 months.

Why?

The site appears to be a restaurant domain that someone probably snagged. The site has tons of really amazing links as this restaurant was featured in the New York Times and more.

Nothing wrong with building a site on an aged domain.

However, the content this site is ranking for is not sustainable in my opinion.

Are they ranking for restaurant / food related keywords? Not really.

They are writing articles on subjects like:

• best home cable machine
• best electric pool heater
• best cement mixer
• best motorcycle lift table

You know...a bunch of stuff closely related to restaurants and food...

Or not even close 🤦🏽‍♂️.

I can see that they are adding tons of new links (possibly questionable) and they started with a powerful domain and that's gotten them a nice early boost.

But this site will get penalized because it doesn't have any topical authority on all these random subjects. (Remember the email I sent you on Wednesday about the importance of topical authority and semantic SEO)?

They are trying to dominate any keyword they feel like they want to write about.

Bottom line, your site will be more successful if you fully cover a niche in-depth (with lots of articles) instead of skipping from niche to niche.

I could be wrong, but my prediction is that this story doesn't end well in the next 12 months.

Someone set a reminder to check back in a year.
