Forbes - One Year Of The Covid-19 Pandemic

Exactly one year ago, the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a global pandemic. Since then, more than 2.6 million lives across the globe have been lost to the virus, and more continue to get sick every day. However, there’s also hope in the form of new vaccines. So a year in, how are different parts of the world doing now? The European Union just approved Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine, though the countries involved have had a hard time getting vaccination programs off the ground. In Brazil, the P.1. variant continues to wreak havoc as the country’s president pushes unproven cures. And in the U.S. the pandemic seems to finally be turning a corner -- though 1 in 5 Americans lost someone close to Covid-19. More states are loosening restrictions, and Dr. Anthony Fauci says a return to normalcy could occur by mid to late summer or early fall.
