Hi Reader,

This week, I’m sharing success stories from IWT readers and students. It’s my pleasure to feature students who have used our material to grow their income, land Dream Jobs, and change their life.

Today, you’re going to hear from Abhilash K B. After being laid off in 2020, he used the insider strategies and tactics from our career course Dream Job to land a job that he loves.

I’ll let him take it from here:

“Until Christmas 2020, everything was going superbly smooth - great job, great pay, remote work, great team, good culture, benefits, gifts, the whole shebang, a new kid, a loving wife, a new apartment (not your preference, I know), parents visiting frequently - I was the king of the world. And suddenly, I was let go from my job.

“So it wasn't really a happy new year for us here and I was applying for jobs at the mercy of the computer algorithms. A lot of applications later, I got maybe 3-4 calls, none of which went through. By mid-to-end Jan, in any case, my fear had reduced. Maybe I had moved on from the denial phase into the acceptance phase. And I began to form a sort of an action plan, which cleared my cloudy mind and I decided to apply to jobs a little more strategically.

“Somehow, I knew, I just knew, that I would land a job soon.

“And that allowed me to take more time to pick out jobs, dig into them a little, and to personalize my applications - ones that I had already fired off as well as new ones. There was one such job that I had applied to in the frenzy days and had forgotten about. Somewhere in the middle of January, I received a notification from LinkedIn saying the job poster had downloaded my application. Immediately, I looked at the job posting again and decided that I must write a cover letter to the job poster via email.

“Since her email address wasn't listed, I used RocketReach to find it. Then, I sent a lengthy email/cover letter which outlined who I am, what I've been doing, and what my biggest learning was. I also pointed out why I wanted to change careers and also how it happened; and a small hint of why I am looking to change again in less than a year.

“But most importantly, I added bullets emphasizing how I met the requirements one by one; and topped it off with why I was a good candidate. Turns out, if I had accessed DJ before this, I would have taken it as a must-do step instead of feeling that this was a genius masterstroke and patting myself on the back.

“It worked. She pinged me on LinkedIn: There were calls and an interview and it went well. She had warned me that I would have to wait for a couple of weeks before I would hear back from them, despite my strong candidature, because there were some processes and also because she had to interview a few other candidates.

“It was in this waiting period that IWT's DJ drip campaign started. I was almost sure of landing this job, but I thought, ‘this is a sign, DJ opening when you are unemployed; so don't overthink it, just buy the course.’ I mean, I would do what the course said and get a job, or get my money back. I remember IWT's terms for return. And, in case I got this job that I had already interviewed for, then I will use DJ to help my wife change her job.

“[Ramit,] Thank you for distilling the tips and techniques and making DJ. You've said it before - we can get all this info for free, but at what cost and when? If I had access to DJ before Jan, then I would have not applied to the 100+ other jobs and devalued myself in the 3-4 interviews that I got. In fact, I might not even have applied for the role of Technical Writer but something else.”

Great work, Abhilash.

We’re all told to “Follow your passion!” and “Find a job you love so you never have to work a day in your life!”

But nobody ever shows us HOW to find work we love.

We’re supposed to just sit around and wait for inspiration to hit us like a bolt of lightning.

Or take some worthless assessment test. (You like the outdoors? Become a park ranger!)

In Find Your Dream Job, all you have to do is follow the foolproof, step-by-step system, and you could get results like Abhilash’s.

If you’re ready to take the leap — to stop living for a “someday” dream and to take action TODAY...
