This week’s money mood: Professional fearlessness

There’s something about, you know, going through a pandemic that stripped away all unnecessary professional pretense. This past year, we showed up on Zoom in comfortable clothes. You could hear our roommates, kids, and pets in the background. We said “no” a lot — and, sometimes, we showed up even when it was inconvenient. We quit our jobs. We got laid off. We did the best we could. We embarked on newer, more flexible career paths. We decided to take career breaks. We started to ask: What would happen if I were professionally fearless?

Let’s ask for raises. Let’s ask for more resources. Let’s ask for feedback. Let’s put together a game plan to make it happen.
