Silicon Valley Funding News - Week of June 21, 2021. IRL Raised $170M Series C led by SoftBank Vision Fund

Congrats to my friend Jeni Mayorskaya, founder of Stork Club (maternity care platform) for raising $30M Series A led by General Catalyst. So proud of you!

This week, my partner Chris McCann wrote an extensive piece on DeFi Infrastructure 101 — Overview & Market Landscape and this quickly became #1 when you google "DeFI Infrastructure".  This article delineates Race Capital's view on Decentralized Finance (DeFi).   We truly believe DeFi is redefining the future of finance and money.

As of June 17, 2021, overall crypto market daily trading reached $1.5 trillion vs Nasdaq's $254 billion.  It's hard to believe that crypto trading volume is almost 6X bigger than Nasdaq! I had to count it twice when I saw the numbers.  😀  DeFi applications grew 10X from less than $1 billion in 2019, to over $10 billion in 2020, and over $80 billion at its peak thus far in 2021.

This shift is happening whether we like it or not.  There is a lot going on with the underlying infrastructure powering financial applications.  And it will change how we think about permission and control, transparency and risks.

Read about the future.
