Nathan Barry - Building a 3M Subscriber Media Empire
Hey Reader, Today is actually my birthday. It feels like a real post-covid celebration because our executive team is in town and last night we had pizza on the farm with the execs and our local Boise team members. I'm so grateful for the vaccines that have made this possible! In other fun news, my secret money newsletter was really well received last week with 94 sales and $9,400 in revenue. My goal was 100, so I think I'll easily hit that this week. It's been super fun to write and create a product again, and this is the perfect size product to fit within the constraints of running a full-time startup. FROM ART OF NEWSLETTERSAlex Lieberman - Building a 3M Subscriber Media EmpireOn the podcast this week I've got Alex Lieberman, the co-founder and chairman of Morning Brew. Morning Brew is a media company bringing informative and digestible business news to your inbox every morning. They educate nearly 3,000,000 daily readers on the latest news from Wall Street to Silicon Valley. Alex also hosts The Founder’s Journal Podcast where he gives listeners a “backstage pass” into building Morning Brew, and in turn, helps them build a better business or career. Morning Brew is considered to be the largest email newsletter on the web. Business Insider recently acquired a major stake in Morning Brew at a rumored valuation of over 75 million dollars. WHAT I'M READINGWhy Africa’s newest super-bridge is in the continent’s weirdest border zoneThis story about a bridge connecting Zambia and Botswana is so interesting. The border between the two is the second shortest border in the world, and you'll have to read the article to see why the long bridge has a subtle curve. The article goes into more of the geopolitical maneuvering that has gone into this zone over the years. Africa is going to see insane growth over the next 20-30 years and infrastructure projects like this will play a big role. FROM CREATOR SESSIONSGaining confidence as a songwriter with Amanda BrownAmanda Brown has sung backup vocals for some of the world’s most celebrated artists, including Stevie Wonder, Adele, and Alicia Keys. She blew audiences away during Season 3 of The Voice (her performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” is a must-watch: Thanks for joining me this week, |
