This leadership mistake is causing the Great Resignation

Good morning! It’s hard to make a plant-based cheese that tastes like the real thing. Nobell, a startup that emerged out of stealth today after four years of R&D, starts with a unique ingredient—soybean plants that have been edited with the genetic code to make casein, a protein found in dairy. The company’s new products are being designed to taste, stretch, and melt in a way that’s virtually indistinguishable from cheese that comes from cow milk. Plant-based cheese sales are already growing twice as fast as traditional dairy cheese. But the newest generation of products could convince more omnivores to make the switch. With a new $75 million round of funding, Nobell is now working to commercialize its first cheeses. Read more.

HBO Maxed out: What you need to know
Fledgling streaming service HBO Max added a massive 2.8 million subscribers in Q2 2021. This is the second surge of subscribers HBO Max has seen this year, adding another 2.7 million just last quarter.
HBO Max now has 47 million subscribers in the United States, and a total of 67 million subscribers worldwide.
That’s not bad at all considering HBO Max is just over a year old and launched with comparatively less content than Disney Plus or Netflix.
The surge is likely driven by Warner Bros. releasing all its big tentpole movies day-and-date this year. That means they’re available to stream on HBO Max on the same day that they arrive in theaters. The studio announced the temporary distribution change last year as movie theaters were being shuttered due to COVID-19.
