This new section will help users understand what data your app may collect and why before they install your app. Because we want to give you plenty of time to prepare, we’re sharing more details on what the section will look like as well as data type definitions.

Updates to Google Play Policies

Policy updates: get an overview of notable changes, including requirements for privacy policies and advertising ID functionality.

Play Payments Policy: developers can apply for a deadline extension to March 31, 2022 (currently September 30, 2021).

What’s new on Google Play

Android App Bundle requirement: starting August 2021, all new apps must be published with the bundle. See our blog post to learn about the benefits and get answers to FAQs.

Play Dev ID requirements and 2-Step Verification: we’ve introduced two new measures to strengthen your account security and better understand your needs.

Play Media Experience Program: a new program that enables even more developers to invest in best media experiences across devices.

15% service fee: as of July 1, 2021, the service fee is 15% on the first $1M (USD) of earnings each year. To make sure you’re eligible, create an account group in Play Console.

What’s new on Android

Jetpack Compose: 1.0 is now live. Check out Android’s modern UI toolkit, which helps you build UI with less code, powerful tools, and intuitive Kotlin APIs.

Android 12 Beta 3: includes updates such as privacy indicator APIs, app search, enhanced auto-rotate, the final Android 12 APIs, and the official SDK.

Google Play services: discontinuing updates for Jelly Bean (API levels 16, 17, and 18). Current SDK versions will continue to work without change, and less than 1% of devices will be affected.
