The Deleted Scenes - New Jersey Driving
Folks, this post is brief, as I’m on the road this week, driving around and photographing the towns I grew up visiting in central New Jersey. It’s been a very fun week, with a lot of ideas and material, but all that driving and time adds up. Thank you for subscribing and helping to support this kind of work. Here are some snippets of what I’ve seen, some of which will end up in posts and articles and some of which probably won’t (I’ve got well over 1000 photos to sift through!) Sometimes certain cities are called “a city of neighborhoods.” New Jersey is a “state of small towns,” and I didn’t appreciate that as much growing up as I do now, living in the great Northern Virginia sprawl. I love both states, but it sure was nice to revisit places from my childhood with my professional interests now in mind. Without further ado, the outskirts of Frenchtown, on the Delaware River: Branchburg, along U.S. Route 22, an old diner renovated, skinned with faux brick, and turned into a burger and beer joint. Behind it are these very old tourist cabins, i.e. detached motel rooms. Clinton. I love buildings like this. Raritan: Pittstown: And I’ll leave with a Hunterdon County backroad, and with a promise of much more of this! Related Reading: You’re on the free list for The Deleted Scenes.
