NichePursuits.com - The Oldest Man Building Content Sites?

What does a 79 year old TV and movie executive have to do with growing massive content websites?

Everything.

Barry Diller is an American businessman that started in the mailroom (in 1961) at a Hollywood talent agency. In 1964, he was hired as an assistant to an executive at ABC.

Over the years, he learned the movie and TV business inside and out.

In 1974, he was hired as the CEO of Paramount Pictures where he helped produce hits like Laverne & Shirley, Taxi, Cheers, Grease, and many more.

Over the years, Barry held top positions at USA broadcasting, Twentieth Century Fox, and QVC.

So, how did he get his hands in one of the largest website portfolios in existence today?

Barry is arguably one of the most seasoned and well-known MEDIA executives in the world.

He knows media businesses.

He knows how to produce content that audiences enjoy and perhaps more importantly, how to monetize that content through advertising relationships.

In the 90s, Barry began making acquisitions of media companies; primarily TV and movie related. However, along the way, some of the acquisitions included assets of online businesses, like Ticketmaster and CitySearch.

As more and more media companies started building online assets and as Barry continued to make more and more acquisitions, he ended up with several websites and true content businesses that were 100% online.

From 2003 to 2010, Barry was the CEO of IAC/InterActiveCorp and continues to serve as its chairman to this day.

If you are not familiar with IAC, it is one of the largest portfolios in the world of content businesses. IAC includes all of the assets of DotDash and many other websites.

Here's a list of just a few of the websites that IAC operates:

HomeAdvisor.com - 5 million organic visits a month

TheBalance.com - 3 million organic visitors a month

Brides.com - 10 million organic visitors a month

Investopedia.com - 57 million organic visitors a month

TheSpruce.com - 19 million organic visitors a month

Other sites include:

  • Lifewire.com
  • SeriousEats.com
  • TreeHugger.com
  • VeryWell.com
  • TripSavvy.com
  • Ask.com
  • Excite.com
  • Care.com
  • and MANY others

IAC also recently spun out Match.com and Vimeo.com into their own publicly traded companies.

Sure, Barry is not logging into WordPress and making sure articles are SEO optimized.

However, he knows how to acquire media businesses and put the right people in place to run them.

He successfully translated all the skills he learned from running TV and movie companies into running internet based media businesses.

Perhaps, you should be thinking about your websites as a media business as opposed to a "niche affiliate site".

How do you learn the skills necessary to run a successful content/media based website?

Well, you can acquire some massive assets like Barry did and hire the right people along the way.

Or if you are like most of us, you might need to get your hands dirty and learn the skills to build or grow your own websites (acquiring sites is a great idea too!).

I personally no longer teach others how to build websites through any sort of formal training.

However, the guys over at Authority Hacker have made it their mission to put together the most robust and effective training there is to build a site that ranks in Google, makes money, and can truly become a successful media company.

Mark and Gael just opened the doors to Authority Hacker Pro right here, their flagship training course.

So, if you are interested in building a site that can achieve millions of organic visitors a month or make enough to help you quit your job, or take your business to the next level, then Authority Hacker Pro just might be what you are looking for.

I'd highly recommend that you take a look at the success stories that have come out of Authority Hacker Pro right here.

I'm not going to promise that Authority Hacker Pro will turn you into the next Media Mogul like Barry Diller; however, the priciples taught inside the training are effective and solid best practices.

If you want to see what's inside Authority Hacker Pro, including the 420+ over the shoulder training videos, you can see what it's all about right here.

The doors for Authority Hacker Pro are only open for 1 week, so now is a good time to check it out if you have any interest.

Thanks again,

Spencer
