Culture Man - #6 Against The Flow
I believe that thinking is the most integral part of human life. If you live, you will think. But if you are just a mere existence, you won’t. Thinking gives you more insights. It gives you what you want. It gives you answers. But most possibly, it’s the one, that gives you big questions. big questions lead to big answers and big leads. And the same had happened to our species. At least, some of our ancestors thought about the veracities that happen around them. And that’s why we sit in a comfortable technologically advanced world. Meanwhile, I have to put forward another truth - that we all think. If we don’t, we are not humans. But some people think differently. Now I remember a famous quote from Margaret Mead, a world-famous cultural anthropologist. “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.”What she said defines how to alter this world. Because the youth empowers the renaissance for their world. We want such modernists in this world. We want people who think better. Or else, we won’t collapse so soon, but exist in the present form, without any development. “There are two different types of people in the world, those who want to know, and those who want to believe.”This is a wonderful quote by the world-famous existentialist Friedrich Nietzsche. His quote shows how many of us see the world. I’m the category from the first and believe you are also a part of it. And my thinking brought me nihilism - which states there isn’t any meaning to one’s life, atheism - which denies the existence of God and upholds science of evidence, and existentialism, which emphasizes action, freedom, and decision as fundamental to human existence. A single color is quite beautiful. But a wide range of colors is more beautiful. For most people, life means just taking birth, growing up, studying, and attaining a job, and later daily going for a job, marrying someone, rearing some children, filling the bank account, and then? Just dying by lying on a hospital bed, paying the entire sum you’ve made throughout your life. Each week she or he goes for a film, or for shopping. That’s all! Is this life? I wonder! For me, life is not just a steep up, or a steep down. It’s about living your life to the fullest. It will have ups and downs, even though we prefer ups. If I live such a life, a question will arise in my mind: What’re you doing? Is this life? To my horror, this life makes me, just another existing creature! Thinking gives you progress. Thinking gives you everything. And the same thinking brought such questions that will make sense. Living up with the existing beliefs and customs doesn’t make you different. You want to critically think about them. What do they give you? Pain or pleasure? If pleasure, you can continue, if it doesn’t harm anything. But if pain, then you have to pause and think more about the fact - Is it essential for me? If not drop it, and move on, and that will give you pleasure in your life. We must think about everything and must not be caged by ourselves. Because that’s how reality comes into touch with us. Thinking brought us advancements, and that gives us more brilliant answers. And that’s where humanity and its future relies on. Share the post, if you think it’s worth reading. Leave comments on my newsletter, and I’ll be happy to hear you.
