The S.T.U.P.I.D. Email

Twitter put out this cool "Month of Tweets" idea chart:

I really liked the concept of this calendar because it gives people a task to do for a full month and helps them achieve a goal.

I searched the web and found other cool "Daily Calendar" examples like this:

A 30 day workout challenge to stay fit:

A daily holiday fitness program to keep people moving:

A 30 day mindfulness calendar with a daily task:

A 30 day challenge to get get better at drawing:

This format is really neat, and I might use it at some point. Maybe it gives you some ideas for your own 30 day challenge or calendar!

Thought:

Being able to read/listen/think for long periods of time is very helpful. It's almost a competitive advantage.

However there’s many distractions to suck you out of concentrating.

What makes it even harder is the same device that allows you to consume great information, is the same device that can distract you!

My main personal distractions on the phone are stuff like:
- Instagram
- Facebook
- Twitter
- Pandora Comedy Station
- Random Podcasts
- Text Messages / Calls
- Reddit

One thing that's curbed usage of certain apps is iPhone's ability to keep an app on your phone, but not show it on the homescreen.

It's simple to do:

➀ Long-press an app
➀ Click "Remove App"
➀ Click "Remove from Home Screen"

For example if I want to upload some pics to Instagram, I'm able to search my phone for "Instagram" and use the app....but it doesn't show on my homescreen and tempt me to click it!

Uplifting

Here's an interesting take on how your brain works:

The cool part about understanding this, is if there's a skill/talent/trait you want, you can always change what you expose your brain to.

Picture:

Which of these Instagram Ads do you think would work the best?

Context: Steve is promoting a sneaker flipping product to his email list of 1,000+ sneaker resellers.

Let me know in the comments which number you think would work best.

Right now the results are all over the place (my personal picks are #1 and #4).

I will update this survery with the real results in ~3 weeks!

Interesting:

Overheard from an accountant friend who is exposed to payrolls for multiple companies:

β€œI see the highest ratio of employees making over $750,000/yr at those blood testing companies. All they do is take blood, get it tested, report back.”

I dunno why but I thought that was interesting 🧐

Do-Over:

This is a "Do-Over" of an email signup form by Taiwo Orbs.

There were a few things wrong here:
❌ The headline is generic and boring.
❌ Not many interesting reasons to signup.
❌ Too much random whitespace where an image can go.

So we added a couple simple things to make this better:

βœ… Added a more catchy headline.
βœ… Added an image for visual appeal.
βœ… Added what the user will get and bolded important things into a "Slippery Slope" style leading to the email signup.

So with very few changes, we are able to make this email signup form convert at a far higher rate:

Hope you enjoyed these little tidbits, have a happy Friday!
Sincerely,
