Tip of the Day

Winter is the perfect time to save your local power company’s customer service number in your phone. The faster power outages are reported, the faster they’re attended to.

Happy Thursday! If you’re feeling a bit of end-of-week stress or some the-holidays-are-almost-here stress, now’s the time to indulge yourself with some stress-busting gifts.

If part of your stress is holiday prep, though, do check out this must-have stainless steel cleaner for your kitchen and this clever fridge storage hack. Speaking of the holidays, if you have a White Elephant party coming up, here’s a list of gifts under $20.

And water cooler trivia? You know we have some. First, a serious one. On this day in 1979, smallpox—after an aggressive ten-year global vaccination campaign—is declared eradicated. To date, it is only one of two diseases declared fully eradicated by the World Health Organization. Also on this day, in 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas aired for the first time, quickly becoming a holiday classic.

Happy Wednesday! As is tradition, a Hump Day camel fact. Camels have spent most of their time on Earth wild. They were only domesticated around 3,000 years ago in the Arabian Peninsula.

You probably don’t have a domesticated camel, but there’s a nearly 50/50 chance you have a domesticated dog—and if you got that dog this year there’s a solid chance you picked one of 2021’s most popular dog names.

And speaking of domestic in a different sense, we have a clever hack for making your Christmas tree seem fuller, cookie-scented candles, and some party games to keep your guests entertained—one of the most popular games in our party game roundup, Codenames, is nearly half-off right now.

And water cooler trivia? Here’s one for the football fans. On this day in 1940, the Chicago Bears beat the Washington Redskins in what would become the biggest beat-down margin of loss in the history of the NFL, a painful 73-0. Ouch.
