Power BI Weekly #136 - 14th December 2021
Power BI Weekly Newsletter Issue #136
powered by endjin
Welcome to the 136th edition of Power BI Weekly! This week: we've been shown how to use the new (preview) visualization feature within Dataverse that allows you to quickly analyze your Power Apps and Dynamics 365 data, we've been told that the Power BI app for Microsoft Teams is now available in the US Government Community cloud, and we've been told that the CustomData feature (previously only available for SSAS/AAS) is now generally available in Power BI.
Most of us know about the concept of using bridge tables to model many-many relationships, but Alberto Ferrari has written about an alternative option to model many-to-many relationships in Power BI and Tabular, making use of the single direction many-many support offered in Power BI. As ever, there is no "one size fits all" guidance, but it's an interesting modeling strategy to consider. Paul Turley has written a follow-up blog about Composite Models Using DirectQuery Over Power BI Datasets, evaluating how far the feature has come since it was first revealed a year ago. Finally, Matthew Roche has written an interesting article about Rebranding Data Governance, highlighting the negative connotations behind the term and how best to change the perceptions/rebrand it.
