We are growing rapidly, and with that growth we are seeing increased participation and activity in our guilds and projects. This newsletter, Gearing Up, was introduced as part of the Community Call revamp in an effort to create a separate content channel focusing on the work of guilds and projects within BanklessDAO. It is a weekly newsletter that will be covering project and guild updates on alternating weeks.

Guilds and projects are the contact points for members to get involved and level up. They are the gears that drive BanklessDAO forward on our journey West. This newsletter is an invitation to see what we are working on, and your ticket to getting plugged in. We want you to get involved, share your skills, and contribute meaningfully to work that you are passionate about. It is our collective effort that sets us in motion for the long road ahead and hastens our pace.

This week, we kick things off by covering project updates and we have some exciting ones to share! Bankless Consulting is thriving, their team is growing rapidly and looking for talent in their quest to help their clients leverage the power of web3. Following the recent security scares at our Discord server, the InfoSec team has stepped up to provide us with weekly security hygiene tips. AND BanklessDAO is participating in the one of the biggest NFT auctions in Sweden!!

Bankless Consulting is a services arm on top of BanklessDAO bringing the talent of 15,000 web3 natives to professional services projects in marketing, tech, legal, finance and management, helping DAOs, web3-based and traditional businesses navigate the nuances and leverage the power of web3. We strive to create the mechanisms for people to be paid fairly, transparently, and based on decentralized governance.

• New $30K client hired them last week!

• They have more than 50 client leads so far. Recently, the president of a major sports league contacted them enquiring if they assist with their web3 strategy.

• 100+ bDAO members have been in their meetings and they have made 100k impressions with over 1,000 followers to date.

• Bankless Sweden has arranged a slot for bDAO to be a key participant in one of the biggest NFT events in Sweden at Stockholm, Sweden at Fotografiska Museum on 18th Feb. Bankless Sweden participants will also be given the opportunity to attend an NFT gallery along with a 40 minute presentation at a renowned business school.

• They are collaborating with the Writers Guild and Bankless Consulting to streamline grant applications.

• The Design workgroup is working on the foundational brand guidelines for all nodes within IMN.

• Sharing sessions were organized and inputs were received from Bulgaria, Adria, South Asia DAO and Spanish Nodes .

Call to action

🏦 Bankless Loans | Project Champion: Birdman

Bankless Loans Project intends to build a Liquity front end and direct the LQTY "front end mining" rewards to the treasury. Liquity is a DeFi lending protocol which allows users to borrow money against an underlying collateral payment. The project uses Liquity to direct rewards to bDAO.

Updates for the Week

The following functionalities have been moved to the Production environment on testnet in the bDAO mobile app:

• ETH/LUSD Loan (Trove / Borrow)

• USD Stability Pool

• LQTY Staking

Roadblocks

The project had an issue with the designer and was unable to finish fine tuning the design on time. However, a new designer has been commissioned to finish the task.

🔐 InfoSec Team | Project Champion: BogDrakonov

The project offers information security to BanklessDAO and aims to provide security training and advice to its members. They also create educational programs to raise awareness on information security topics in both Web2 and Web3.

Updates for the Week

• The team has already kicked off the educational programs and are assisting DevOps in managing certain resources.

• Their Discord channels have been created and weekly meetings are being conducted regularly.

Timelines for implementation

1. Started the educational process via the BanklessDAO newsletters.

2. Receive funding for Season 3 from Grants Committee

3. Continue creating educational content to help DAO members and the Web3 community at large practice better personal security.

4. Build a moderation bot that can protect the DAO's Discord server from phishing and spam attacks.

5. Work with DevOps to ease their burden of administrating GitHub, Google Workspaces, Vercel and other resources by providing additional hands and guidance using our team's vast knowledge and experience in InfoSec.

🎓 Bankless Academy | Project Champion: DidierKrux.eth

Bankless Academy is a one-stop-shop that will take someone with absolutely zero knowledge of crypto and smart contracts, and turn them into a fully competent user. This is done through a skill tree, providing content in various media formats, interactive quests, quizzes and rewarding the student with POAPs or other goodies.

• The academy has scheduled a special pre-release of ETH Denver X POG on February 10 followed by a public launch on February 11.

DAO Heat | Project Champion: FreedomFighter

DAO Heat is a collaborative writing and design contest founded to increase coordination among bDAO members. It involves two stages, a writing contest followed by a design contest. The winning design is then converted into a collection of 50 limited edition NFTs that will be put up for sale. Prize monies can go up to 3000 BANK + a cut of the NFT sales.

Updates for the Week

• The writing contest was launched on the February 1. The format is 300-500 word essays (elements of poetry allowed) and the theme is “Rise of DAO Culture.” The writing submissions are closing Wednesday February 9.

• The design contest submissions will open up soon, so stay tuned.

• They sold the DAO Heat Genesis NFT on AMA for 0.5 ETH within 35 minutes of minting it.

👮 Web3 Security Fundamentals

This workshop is organized by Coffee & Crypto | Jacob.

Web3 Security Fundamentals is a one hour workshop designed to educate individuals on best patterns and practices around online security fundamentals. In this workshop, we will discuss security around passwords, password managers, email accounts, phones, websites, Discord and Metamask.

Additionally, anyone who attends the workshop for at least 30 minutes will have the ability to schedule a free 30 minute 1:1 session during the following two weeks with Coffee & Crypto | Jacob to ask personal questions about anything discussed during the workshop, including assistance setting up a password manager, enabling MFA, or anything else security related to the workshop.

📒 Basic Instructional Design

The workshop is organized by Quietfox.

This workshop provides an exploration of best practices for teaching and learning led by IRL educators. In this one-hour session, you will learn about best practices for designing effective courses in any domain or field. You will be exploring a few key learning theories, the different models of instructional design, and how to best format your assessments to meet your learning targets for your educational experience. Participants will be provided with all the resources necessary.
