Chuukese-owned lash brand to launch this month
Chuukese-owned lash brand to launch this monthMicronesian Monday Feature | Foreign.Blingx
This Micronesian Monday Feature is about Tiffany, a young Chuukese entrepreneur who will embark on a new small business this month. With product names like “Chuukita,” “Niekangan,” and “Neminta,” Tiffany Smith has made it pretty clear who her key demographic is—at least for now. Later this month, Tiffany will launch her beauty brand Foreign Blingx. The first set of products bearing the Foreign Blingx name will be false eyelashes. “My launch date is 02/22. I’ll be selling just five styles of eyelashes,” Tiffany said. Based in Utah, the 19-year-old Tiffany said she isn’t necessarily expecting to sell out with this launch. “Thought it’d be nice!” she said. Rather, she’s looking to put out a Micronesian brand, a Chuukese-owned business into the world. “Letting us be known. Like ‘Hey, I’m a small Micronesian brand,’” Tiffany said. “Also you don’t hear often that there is a Micronesian beauty brand so (I) thought it’d be fun to have that title as well as cater some eyelashes to beautiful girls who are into lashes and makeup.” Right now, Tiffany said her marketing focus is on patrons primarily from Chuuk but she expects to include other Micronesian cultures in future drops. While she’ll start with false eyelashes, she is also looking to sell Foreign Blingx lipsticks and Foreign Blingx lip glosses. Tiffany explained that she landed on the name Foreign Blingx, pronounced “blinks,” based on a couple of factors. “I thought the name Foreign Blingx suited my business very well because when you think of the word foreign or foreigner you automatically know someone or something that is from another place. ‘Blingx’ is just a unique spelling of the word ‘blinks,’” she said. “That’s how I came up with Foreign Blingx. I wanted to put it out there that it’s a foreign eyelash business.” Calling all nemins who are fans of false eyelashes: Tiffany is on the hunt for brand ambassadors. “I’m trying to find someone who is willing to rep my products who will proudly wear them knowing it’s a Micronesian brand of eyelashes as well as reel in other beautiful ladies who’d be interested in our lashes of course with a few requirements,” she said. Otherwise, beauties who might be looking to score a new set of falsies and support an emerging Micronesian beauty brand should mark their calendars for Feb. 22, and check out @foreign.blingx on Instagram to get the latest information about the launch. Thank you so much to Tiffany for her time. I’m hoping her beauty brand takes off and I am very intrigued to find out what her next product will be! Find Foreign Blingx on IG!Thank you for reading.
