1. Google Search Is Dying​

TL;DR: Why google often shows irrelevant crap and why Reddit is the new google.

Great article. Best quote from it:

"Reddit is currently the most popular search engine. The only people who don’t know that are the team at Reddit, who can’t be bothered to build a decent search interface. So instead we resort to using Google, and appending the word “reddit” to the end of our queries."

After it I realized that I'm not the only one who uses google like: query + "site:reddit.com" or query + "site:github.com" or query + "site:stackoverflow.com." Especially when it comes to finding reviews of some product or finding a bug that popped up in my console.

3. The Psychology of Purchasing Something on Amazon 🔥

TL;DR: Cognitive biases that Amazon uses on product purchase flow.

1. Dark pattern – when you go to the product page, a subscription is automatically selected instead of a one-time purchase.
2. Anchoring – when we use irrelevant information to make a decision. For example, amazon shows that one bottle of omega-3 costs $21.97, but it says "$0.12/Count" next to it - looking at that, you might think "oh, that seems really cheap," but we don't know how much one omega capsule from other brands costs.
3. Social proof – when people copy the actions of others in a new situation for themselves. For example, amazon adds “most common” to the buy button of a large bottle of omega-3.
