I started writing stories at the age of nine. 

Mostly scary stuff about ghosts, ghouls, and goblins. 

My teachers had a fit. “Why are you writing such horrible stories?” they’d ask. 

“Because it’s fun,” I’d reply.

I like to think that I’ve evolved as a writer since then, but I still love a thrilling story. 

What I didn’t realize until much later in life was that storytelling pays – and pays well.

And you don’t need to be the next Stephen King, either.
