Tip of the Day

Vinegar is a wonder cleaner around the home, but skip using it on your natural stone counters. Eventually, it will eat away the sealant and etch the stone.

Happy Friday! It’s the final day of our first week of the Spring Cleaning Challenge and we’re wrapping up the kitchen. That means it’s time to get those floors sparkling! Groaning? Well, we also have the inside scoop on which chores Americans hate the most, so hey, might as well see if it’s mopping or not.

Speaking of the kitchen, let’s talk about food. Here’s how you can regrow fruits and veggies from kitchen scraps, why some people salt their fruit, and how you can make the most of those delicious corned beef leftovers.

While you’re at it, here’s a look back at the articles LifeSavvy readers couldn’t get enough of this week:

And, of course, the Spring Cleaning Challenge! So many of you tuned in to the first few days we have to assume there are a lot of sparkling kitchens out there now.

Finally, let’s round it out with some water cooler trivia. Here’s a fun one that we encourage you all to file away just so you can pull it out and win a round of bar trivia down the road. On this day in 1837, Grover Cleveland was born in Caldwell, New Jersey. That’s interesting but not the fact that’ll help you score winning points. The notable bit about Cleveland is that he’s the only U.S. President to have served twice but in non-consecutive terms (1885–89 and 1893–97).
