1. Why we stopped making Einsteins​

TL;DR: An interesting theory about why we don't see as many geniuses now as we did in past centuries.

My notes from the essay:

• Not many people know about it, but from childhood, many future geniuses were given the best tutors in their fields. For example, Marcus Aurelius had 17: four grammarians, four rhetors, one jurist, and eight philosophers divided his soul among them.
• At that time, children were not taught with the goal of "getting the most points for admission to institution X." They were taught everything, and they were taught slowly. Now we see the opposite – parents hire tutors to teach us only the knowledge we need to pass the test.
• As it turns out, access to information has almost no effect on the emergence of geniuses.

Of course, this is not the only factor influencing the emergence of geniuses, as there were geniuses without tutors, but tutors from childhood was clearly one of the key factors.

The other key factor, I think, is boredom.
