The Steal Club - A tactical guide to stealing followers

Note: this will be more Twitter-focused, but the principles apply to any content platform.

Imagine this:

You log into Twitter.

You have a couple of good tweet ideas. You feel pumped about it.

"This is going viral for sure"

You post them and...crickets

Sounds familiar?

Let’s face it. The sole purpose of a social media algorithm is to keep people on the platform.

Initially, your tweets, Instagram, or LinkedIn posts are not doing that.

Not because they are bad. 

The algorithm simply doesn't know you yet. It has no idea how valuable your content is.

That makes it extremely hard to get any kind of attention early on.

And no attention means no followers.

How do we fix that?

The fundamentals are:

• We need to go where the attention is. We have to find it.
• We need to shift that attention to us. We need to steal it.

Where do you think most followers hang out these days?

Around creators.

With time, these creators have built up their attention and trust. Their followers are active and engaged. And they are a lot.

We want that.

But not just any followers will do.

To maximize this tactic’s effect, you need to target top creators in your niche.

For example: if you want to build a following of web3 developers, you need to target top accounts in the web3 space.

If you are targeting Naval and his followers, it won't work.

This is the how to👇

• Identify one top account in your niche
• See who he/she follows
• Aim to identify at least 10-15 more names
• Add relevant people to a Twitter list

We have found (and listed) attention. 

Now what?

When one of these top accounts posts something, either reply or quote retweet it.

Simple right?

Yes. 

And No.

There's a catch.

A simple 👍  or “Great post” won’t do.

Rewording the entire tweet won’t do either.

You need to ADD VALUE with that reply. And how exactly do you do that?

• Add your point of view to the original post
• Spark a conversation or join an existing one
• Tell a personal story that complements the original post
• Ask a thoughtful question so the original poster can reply

The above is an example from 2020, back when I had around 200 followers

• I took this tweet by jack Butcher.
• Quote RT’d summarizing the tweet (here’s the value)

He saw the value and RT’d in front of his +50k followers at the time. 

In return, I gained +100 new followers, which at the time, accounted for 50% of my audience growth in 1 day.

As you can see, this is a very simple tactic.

To steal those followers, I simply took the steps outlined at the beginning of this email.

• I went where the attention was
• I shifted the attention to myself

The best part?

You can implement this strategy right now. Even with 0 followers.

1. Identify 10-15 top accounts in your niche.
2. Create a Twitter list and start leaving valuable comments.
3. Repeat this 5-10 times daily. For as much time as you can. 

I guarantee you will grow.

In addition, many of those replies are likely to make good tweets.

So you are killing two birds with one stone. (About 30-40% of my tweets are repurposed replies.)
