New Old Age - How to microdose?
Everyone loves acid, right? What’s not to love about psychedelics? Seeing the world and everything in it anew is a blessing. It’s also a bit of a commitment. A full dose can last eight, ten hours or more. Microdosing psychedelic drugs is not about realizing that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. The aim of microdosing is to gently shift depression, enhance creativity and improve mental acuity. When forty-year-old Amanda* took her first microdose of LSD, she hoped colors would pop and the world would become a little more sparkly. She had never taken LSD or psychedelics before, not even recreationally in her youth. Given the sub-perceptible size of the dose she self-administered, the grass was still a standard shade of green and the clouds didn’t become dancing elephants. But her anxiety abated, along with the physiological signs of stress. Her fuse lengthened. She felt she could solve problems quicker and with more clarity. She smiled. Snap reactions gave way to greater lucidity, cutting to the heart of problems with more decisiveness. She puts a single tab of acid into a mini-bar-sized bottle of alcohol, creating 50 doses of one milliliter each. She takes two doses a week. Two tabs of acid are enough to last an entire year. * Name has been changed References “People microdosing on psychedelics to improve wellbeing during pandemic” Guardian (2021) “Why microdosing is gaining momentum in Australia” Australian Financial Review (2022) If you liked this post from New Old Age, why not share it? |
