How heritable are various sports abilities?

Hi all,

This one goes out to everyone who knows how great having worked out feels, but hasn’t done it for a while. I did 35 minutes on the Peloton yesterday and it felt amazing.

Exercise truly solves all life problems.

Or as my friends like to say:

Have a great week.

The Way of Kings (book)

I’m trying to take my brain completely out of work with some of my content choices - Brandon Sanderson’s work is supposed to be 1) fantastic and 2) enormous, with plenty to explore in all directions.

I’m not 35% through The Way of Kings, which is the first book in The Stormlight Archives. A little slow in parts but I’m invested in a few characters at this point and am told the payoff will be worth it.

What other fantasy books do you recommend?

How heritable are various sports abilities? (article)

They use data from identical twins. What’s interesting IMO isn’t the absolute number from any particular sport, but the stack ranking to tell you on a relative basis which sports are more linked to genetics.

Dictator Book Club: Xi Jinping (article)

From Scott Alexander.

“Reading about Xi increases my confidence in democracy relative to other forms of government. As non-democracies go, China under Deng, Jiang, and Hu seemed like one of the best. But under the surface, it was sprouting factionalism, patronage, and corruption, and when authoritarianism finally came for it, it put up such a pathetic fight that the whole thing ended behind closed doors and we’ll never really know what happened. RIP multipolar oligarchic China, you deserved better.”

It works with all of them.

Severance (tv show)

A little slow in the middle but starts interesting & ends with a bang. Excited to see what they do in season 2.
