Tim Ferriss - 5-Bullet Friday — April 22, 2022

Hi All!
Here is your weekly dose of 5-Bullet Friday, a list of what I’m pondering and exploring.
What I’m watching
“Mentalism, mind reading and the art of getting inside your head” by Derren Brown (@derrenbrown). If that whets your appetite, follow it up with “The Events: How to Be a Psychic Spy” by Derren. I’m very keen to learn more about mentalism. Can anyone suggest a “curriculum” or great way of learning? Please send me a note on Twitter using @tferriss and #mentalism if so!
What I’m studying
Drunken monkey hypothesis. From Wikipedia: “[The Drunken monkey hypothesis] proposes that human attraction to ethanol may derive from dependence of the primate ancestors of Homo sapiens on ripe and fermenting fruit as a dominant food source.” Thanks to Dr. Mark Plotkin (@DocMarkPlotkin) for introducing me to this hypothesis. Learn more about Mark here.
What I’ll be practicing outdoors this summer
“AcroYoga with Chelsey Korus and Matt Giordano.” This video has 1M+ views for a reason, and the sequences make me want to dive back into AcroYoga. For a good overview of the fundamentals, check out co-founder Jason Nemer’s book, Move, Connect, Play: The Art and Science of AcroYoga. You can also watch my video interview with him here.
What I’m listening to
Soft: “Ave Cruz” (YouTube, Spotify) by Céu (@ceumusic). Caramel and velvet for winding down.
Hard: “Blood from a Stone” (YouTube, Spotify) by Sevendust (@Sevendust). Sonic hammer for winding up.
Question I am once again revisiting
“How am I complicit in creating the conditions I say I don’t want?” (Click to see thread and discussion.)
— Jerry Colonna
And, as always, please give me feedback on Twitter. Which bullet above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @tferriss and put #5BulletFriday at the end so I can find it.
Have a wonderful weekend, all.
Much love to you and yours,
Tim
P.S. Deal of the Week — JuneShine!
You don’t know it yet, but JuneShine’s going to be your new favorite happy-hour drink. Consistent with their tagline, “organic hard kombucha for a brighter buzz,” I do get a nice buzz. It sports a hefty 6% ABV (alcohol by volume), but 1–2 drinks doesn’t punish me with a nasty hangover. I enjoy grabbing a can of JuneShine in the late afternoon after a workday or when hanging with friends on the weekend. You’ve also heard me drinking JuneShine in a few Random Show episodes with Kevin Rose. I’ll be trying the Mango Daydream next, but I often grab a Sampler Pack and rotate. I keep very little booze in my house, but JuneShine easily makes the cut.
JuneShine is made with organic ingredients, and it is naturally gluten-free. As a 5-Bullet Friday subscriber, you can get an exclusive discount: receive 20% off your first purchase plus free shipping on any orders over $75. Simply use code TIM at checkout. So why not try it out? Taste what the buzz is about and grab a Sampler Pack here: JuneShine.com/Tim.
