Transitioning from an exit to your next SaaS

I'm finishing up a long batch of customer interviews (I'm tweeting my process in real-time) with the goal of figuring out where to navigate next with my product, ZipMessage.

This exercise reminds me of the game we're playing:  It's about keeping 2 "tracks" top-of-mind at all times:

• The mid-long-track:  Gather learnings that lead to strategy shifts to execute this quarter, this year, beyond...
  
  
• The right-now-track:  Keep shipping stuff today, tomorrow, this week.

In today’s episode, I chatted with Laura Roeder, the founder of, Paperbell.  She recently exited from her previous SaaS business, Edgar, so it was a good chance to compare notes about both of our recent exits and transitions from one business into the next.  It's a good one!

This is one of those commonly seen UI patterns—indicators showing you when you have new messages or activity—that seems like a simple thing but there's a lot going on under the hood.  This was a doozy of a feature to build!  I had fun with it though.  Take a look at some screenshots and a 1-minute video.
