Credibility. Lots of earned media from telling a really compelling story. College startup helping small businesses create mobile apps cheaper than a newspaper ad. Featured in TechCrunch, New York Times, Business Insider, everywhere.
Distribution. We put more thought into on our distribution strategy than our product strategy. Started partnering with large web agencies, helping us sell apps to their customers by the 100s, then 1000s. Instead of one SMB at a time.
Dedication. Ever upload an iPhone app? It takes about 45-minutes. We had a full team dedicated to literally manually uploading iPhone apps all day. We eventually streamlined this process (which wasn’t easy) but we just did what we had to do to make things work.
Luck. We were sorta in the right place at the right time. I literally had zero professional work experience prior to Bizness Apps (still don’t). Spotted a big trend in a big market and capitalized on it.

This might sound a little oversimplified, but it's 100% true.
