Brian Casel - Anxiety-driven growth

I sometimes (read: often) get caught in a mental loop that goes something like this: 

"We're not growing fast enough... Our current growth feels too 'lucky'... Where will our next wave of customers come from?..."

I decided to flip this anxiety into something useful.

When I'm in this loop, I look for areas in my business that feel most uncontrollable (or "lucky") and work on building systems that make them more controllable and predictable.

In my case (and I'd imagine, most cases in early startups), this means focusing on pipeline.  I'm building out the systems to continuously fill our pipeline with leads and opportunities to acquire more customers. 

We won't win them all.  But as long as I can wake up every day to a list of fresh opportunities, and have playbooks and systems to reach them, then the rest is up to the strength of our product.

And in the case of ZipMessage, I feel more confident in our product than ever.
