More than a dozen record high [temperatures] were set throughout the state. Sunday was the state’s second-hottest day since at least 1950. A heat dome, or ridge of high pressure bringing hot, dry, sinking air, is [keeping temperatures] 10 to 15 degrees above average across the southern and central Plains as a whole.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas [issued] a public appeal for conservation during the hottest times of day. ERCOT is projecting that, between 2 and 3 p.m., the statewide grid will be able to generate 80,168 megawatts. During the same window, demand is anticipated to reach 79,671 MW. No systemwide outages are [currently] expected.

Should abortion policy be left to the states?

762 votes, 96 comments

Context: President Biden announces federal action related to abortion; progressives urge more.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - No, because we don't regulate other medical procedures at a state level. Women get abortions for all kinds of reasons, which include emergency situations.
