I made this mistake many many times.

If you are still “figuring things out” - then having lots of employees is a terrible position to be in.

It’s hard to turn a big ship. It’s hard to “find work” for a bunch of people, when you really just need 1-2 people to hack something together.

If you’re pre-product market fit, the best thing you can do is:

• Self fund it (discipline)
• Have 3 or less people on the team

Love this phrasing “batteries not included”

I’ve hired many smart, talented people who had great resumes…but it felt like they were missing a battery pack. The battery has hard work, grit, and enthusiasm. Super important to hire people with batteries included.
