FBI’s search of Trump’s Florida estate: Why now?
Associated Press (Center) • Factual Grade 82% • 6 min read

The Justice Department has been investigating the potential mishandling of classified information since the National Archives and Records Administration said it had received from Mar-a-Lago 15 boxes of White House records, including some with classified information, earlier this year. The National Archives said Trump should have turned that over upon leaving office, and asked the Justice Department to investigate.
    ...
A federal judge had to sign off on the warrant after establishing that FBI agents had shown probable cause. Secret Service agents contacted the Justice Department and were able to validate the warrant before facilitating access to the estate.
    ...
Trump and his allies cast the search as a weaponization of the criminal justice system and a Democratic-driven effort to keep him from winning another term in 2024 — though the Biden White House said it had no prior knowledge and current FBI Director Christopher Wray was appointed by Trump five years ago.

Do you support Texas Gov. Abbott’s policy of sending migrants to NYC and DC?

769 votes, 114 comments

Context: Second bus of migrants from Texas arrives in NYC; thousands already in DC.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - As long as it’s voluntary for migrants to participate, it seems more humane and to their advantage to get a free bus ride to an area of the country that provides more services and is closer to their desired destination. Federal policies, slow judicial processes, and limited detention resources result in migrants being released into southern border states with very limited help. It’s reasonable for Texas to seek to share that burden with other states, and increase awareness of the issue [...]. However, I would like to see some information provided to the destination cities so they can prepare to receive the migrants.
