Niche Site Lady - My best trick!

Keyword research is everything.

When it comes to building your niche site,

it’s easy to accidentally waste your time.

There are two ways people do this…

1. Writing about topics that are WAY too competitive.

You are never going to rank for ‘Best hotels in London’.

2. Writing about topics that NOBODY is searching for.

You can easily rank for ‘Best cat-friendly hotels with pools in London’ 

But nobody is searching for that, so who cares?

The best SEO trick there is,

Is doing keyword research to find

High search volume but low competition keywords.
 

If you can find keywords that have hundreds of searches per month

That nobody has answered

You can easily attract a lot of traffic.

Even on a new-ish site. 

And even without link building.

Because I don't know about you..

But I think link building sucks balls.

So,

How do we find these keywords?

Here’s the juicy bit…

First, you have to stumble across a crappy site that’s ranking well.

These sites have millions of pages

Of scaped or AI-generated content.

All they can rank for

Are zero-competition keywords.

They're that bad.

You’ll know you’ve found one

When it has a table of contents at the top with questions that look like they’re from Google’s ‘People Also Ask’ section.

It will just be a page of headers and answers,

Each getting further away from the original topic.

Total crap.

I love stumbling across sites like that,

Because I know that if that crappy site can rank,

I sure as hell can!

So here’s what I do…

1. Paste the domain into ahrefs

If you see something like this…

You’ll know you caught a fish!

2. Next, click on 'organic keywords'.

Let’s see what else this site is ranking for...

3. Filter by Position 1-3

We only want the keywords that are so easy

That this shit site can get in the top 3 on Google.

4. Pull a list of thousands of keywords that are easy to rank for!

Of course,

You’ll only be interested in the ones that are relevant to your niche.

But these sites generally cover every niche under the sun.

So that's cool.

5. Filter to your niche terms.

You'll probably find a few gems from each site.

Write this content and ta-daa!

Easy!

Now, you need to know this...

Which keyword research tool to use

For keyword research, I use ahrefs.

It’s pricey,

The lite version starts at $99 per month and that standard version costs $199 per month.

They used to offer a 7-day trial for $7 but sadly, that is no more.

Boo!

So, what if you can't afford that?

I hear you!

Don't worry...

I have another solution.

Instead,

You can get a 7-day free trial of SEMRush.

It does the same thing.

After that, the cost is $119.95 per month.

So, that's pricey too.

These are premium tools, after all.

So, you might want to do as much keyword research as you can in those seven days!

There are also some cheaper tools that claim to do the same thing.

I’ve tested a bunch of them

But none of them seem to have much data.

So for this task,

I’d recommend ahrefs.

Take the SEMRush free trial

And do it all in a week.
