PREVIEW Splatoon 3 - Iteration not evolution, and that's a good thing — Some early impressions from both the single and multiplayer, touching upon what's new and the various quality of life improvements. "everything that has been added feels exciting and fresh".

Nintendo Treehouse: Live — August 2022 — An hour and a half presentation giving us a closer look at the single player of the upcoming Splatoon 3, plus a showcase of Square-Enix's Harvestella.

Why Nintendo doesn't make everything you want — This is a great explainer video from Jon Cartwright highlighting the studio structure at Nintendo and who handles what, be that internally or with external partners. You'll earn a good understanding as to why things are the way they are.

Good Vibes Gaming // YouTube

Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games: Kirby's Dream Land — Yup, Smash Director Sakurai is now everyone's favourite Nintendo YouTuber, and he's already got a selection of great videos to check out. I particularly enjoyed this one looking back at the first Kirby game on Game Boy (the first in the series I played too!).

Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games // YouTube

Notorious DRM company takes aim at Switch piracy — Just a few weeks ago I shared a link on the increasing piracy problem on Switch, and now company 'Denuvo' announced plans at GamesCom to offer a new product to third-party publishers called 'Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection' — it claims to block gameplay on emulators. To be clear, Nintendo is not involved with this in anyway.

Ethan Gach // Kotaku

Nintendo responds to PlayStation price hike — The House of Mario has no plans to increase the cost of the Switch. The PS5 price rise is ill-judged if nothing else....

Tom Phillips // Eurogamer

REVIEW RITE — "a well-crafted, but uncomplicated, precision platformer. It wastes no time and offers up a demanding challenge, all with an affordable price tag.". Here's a three-minute video version of my review if you'd rather see it in action.

Chris Brandrick // Switch Weekly

REVIEW Islets — "promises a surprisingly wholesome story while featuring a lot of classic Metroidvania mechanics, and it certainly delivers".

Kara Phillips // Nintendo Life

REVIEW Pac-Man World Re-Pac — "There's some fun to be had, but perhaps not enough to warrant a remaster".

Connor Christie // Pocket Tactics

INTERVIEW Chibi-Robo - How Miyamoto saved a cult hit from the scrapheap — Director Kenichi Nishi shares: "I would like to make a sequel if the timing is right, because he is a fascinating character".

Ashley Day // Time Extension

REVIEW Dusk Diver 2 — "sadly fumbles things on the gameplay front, with a disappointing mixture of damage-sponge enemies and drawn-out encounters".

Scott McCrae // Nintendo Life

REVIEW Hindsight — "If you’re looking for an experience that’s light on gameplay but heavy on the heartstrings, Hindsight is very much a sight to behold.".

Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report

A visit to Malana, the Animal Crossing ME awareness island

Megan Bidmead // Last Word on Gaming

Cult Of The Lamb's launch makes me feel like I'm the only one who cares about bugs — My buddy Jay at Game + Word also touched upon this issue in his excellent newsletter.

The games industry is failing the working class
