Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveils prototype humanoid Optimus robot (4 minute read)

Elon Musk revealed a prototype of a humanoid robot at the start of Tesla's 2022 AI Day presentation. The prototype was developed in just six months. Designers and engineers hope to have a full working design within the next few months or years. The robot is designed to be mass-produced and capable of tasks like cooking and gardening. Chrome’s new ad-blocker-limiting extension platform will launch in 2023 (3 minute read)

The next version of Chrome's extension platform, Manifest V3, is a controversial update that makes ad blockers less effective. Google will start turning off support for Manifest V2 extensions in 2023 and remove Manifest V2 extensions from the Chrome store entirely in January 2024. Manifest V3 is meant to bring enhancements in security, privacy, and performance. Google's ad division appears to have an increasing influence on the design of Chrome.

Scientists have developed compounds that hit the same key receptors that LSD activates without causing hallucinations. A single dose produced powerful antidepressant and antianxiety effects in mice that lasted up to two weeks. The compounds are designed to fit into the same receptor that is targeted by psychedelics like LSD and psilocybin. While psychedelics can have significant long-term effects on depression, anxiety, and PTSD, it is not yet known if the trip is essential to the treatment.
UK startup Arrival’s unique ‘microfactory’ produces its first electric van (3 minute read)

Arrival recently produced its first electric van in one of its microfactories. The microfactory concept involves using highly automated small-footprint facilities to produce vehicles using a new method that doesn't involve a traditional assembly line. Arrival is developing electric delivery vans with UPS, ride-hailing cars for Uber, and public buses. The company went public through a SPAC in 2021 and has backing from Hyundai and Kia.
