I have a new off-socials marketing tip for you and it's bold AF (not auto-focus). Very tongue-in-cheek. On the other hand, I'm just watching and waiting until the first celeb or mega-influencer starts doing it.

I mean...JLo started writing a newsletter a little while ago. Her marketing team knows what's up. I assume it's the team writing this more than the person. Even though I like the idea that she's sitting down on a Friday afternoon whispering to herself: "Email ideas, email ideas, email ideas! Quick! You can do it, Jen!" .

Back to the gutsy off-socials marketing tip:

Build your own social network.

Boom! I know. Bold. Also: whaaaat is she talking about?!?

The why, in short:

People like the functionality of social media, they just don't like how they're being done right now. Imagine there was a way to build your own, cool social media platform in an accessible way. There is! I talk about it on the episode.

With your own social network you give the people in your community an off-the-charts cool way to connect with each other, that goes way deeper than community platforms. You also have way better access to your audience and a closed space for sharing exclusive content and your offers. You could even monetize it gently with a membership fee, when the right time comes. And you keep the trolls out that way.

Caveat, who this is for:

This works best for somebody who has a sizable and/or very engaged community already. Social networks live from the interaction on them. And while I don't think you need to be a celebrity or mega-influencer to make this work, you need a critical mass of people who are active enough to make this work their time and yours. When you have it, it can be a really fun and unique thing.
