Hi, issue #303 of Switch Weekly here with your Nintendo update.

So, that Mario trailer... I've linked it below (like you haven't seen it already) and shared some thoughts on it. Generally though, I think it has gone down well!

This week I wanted to bring you a review of No Man's Sky for the Switch, but so far they are lacking — chiefly due to the launch timing of the accompanying 4.0 update to the game. There's an in-progress review here from Nintendo Life — but I hope to bring you a few more opinions on it next week.

As for next week — well we've got over 35 games coming to the Switch, including one about catching frogs in a marsh. The full list is below for you.

▶ The Super Mario Bros. Movie Direct — What else would I be leading this issue with? 😅 Yep, you've all no doubt seen it already but hey, it's here again if you want a refresher a few days on. I'd love to know what you think of it (just hit reply to this email) — as for me? Well, I think it sure looks the part, and you've no doubt seen countless hot takes on Chris Pratt's voice, but for me, honestly, it's way too early to pass any meaningful judgement on it. I think folks need to remember this is a kids movie first and foremost though. Either way, I'm excited to see more, and Jack Black seems to have nailed it.

REVIEW The engrossing and endearing Disney Dreamlight Valley is more than just nostalgia — "It shows how easy it is to implement Sikh representation in a game without it being something to unlock. It is just right there from the start. It is handled well, and the developers do care." — This line caught my eye, as Nintendo Switch Sports failed on this point. It's worth noting that this review, for all its praise, does highlight performance issues on the Switch version. Here's another review from Chris Scullion at VGC.
