Switch Weekly - Bowser steals the show

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Direct — What else would I be leading this issue with? 😅 Yep, you've all no doubt seen it already but hey, it's here again if you want a refresher a few days on. I'd love to know what you think of it (just hit reply to this email) — as for me? Well, I think it sure looks the part, and you've no doubt seen countless hot takes on Chris Pratt's voice, but for me, honestly, it's way too early to pass any meaningful judgement on it. I think folks need to remember this is a kids movie first and foremost though. Either way, I'm excited to see more, and Jack Black seems to have nailed it.

REVIEW Overwatch 2 — "Overwatch 2 is a lot of things, but a proper sequel to the original Overwatch is not one of them".

Mitch Vogel // Nintendo Life

Jump into a Paldean Journey — A new, near 15-minute look at the upcoming Scarlet and Violet Pokemon games, featuring a look at new evolutions, crafting, and more. Here's a write-up of what's new via Nintendo Life if you'd rather skip the video.

INTERVIEW Nier’s Yoko Taro on drinking less, horny 2B art, and big fat sausages — This chat covers the creation of the action RPG Nier Automata and its excellent port to the Nintendo Switch.

Ben Johnson // Pocket Tactics

REVIEW The engrossing and endearing Disney Dreamlight Valley is more than just nostalgia — "It shows how easy it is to implement Sikh representation in a game without it being something to unlock. It is just right there from the start. It is handled well, and the developers do care." — This line caught my eye, as Nintendo Switch Sports failed on this point. It's worth noting that this review, for all its praise, does highlight performance issues on the Switch version. Here's another review from Chris Scullion at VGC.

Veerender Singh Jubbal // Paste Magazine

REVIEW Dorfromantik — "a zen-like relaxing game that keeps me engaged with bountiful variety and just-enough strategy".

Neal Ronaghan // Nintendo World Report

REVIEW Wizorb — "doesn’t push its mechanics far enough to escape an unfortunate level of tedium".

Reese Anderson // Forever Classic Games

REVIEW Youropa

Willem Hilhorst // Nintendo World Report

Ooblets is just unsettling enough to love

Emily Price // Paste Magazine

I got to Skyrim way too late
