Issue 237 - Battery Health Test

Software Updates

2022.36.1 shows navigation ETA on the app ðŸ“·
Have you ever been waiting for your loved one or someone to pick you up in your car? The location feature is super useful to know which side they are coming from, etc. In this future version, it will become even more useful to show you where the car is navigating, how far away it is, and its ETA. Cool new feature.

Service mode now has HV battery section with a battery health test function ðŸ“·
In version 2022.36.2, the car has a battery section in the service mode. In the new screens, you can see multiple things, including the battery health and you can run a battery health test. For the battery health test, the car will discharge the battery and then charge it to full.

New Production

Tesla to start production of the Semi 📷
Elon announced this on Twitter, they are starting production of the Tesla Semi Truck and will deliver the first ones to Pepsi on December 1st. This is great news on many fronts! The Tesla Semi seems like a great product that entering a big market that has no EV presence and also hints at Tesla being over the hump on their battery production, which was always a constraint for the project. Looking forward to seeing these on the road soon!

FSD

Tesla hints at 'Reverse Summon' being available this year 📷
Tesla seems to have updated their Autopilot section to mention what they call Reverse Summon "When you arrive at your destination, simply step out at the entrance and your car will enter park seek mode, automatically search for a spot, and park itself. A tap on your phone summons it back to you."

I've been in the community long enough to remember the Autopilot demo video from 2016, where the Tesla parked itself after leaving the person at their destination. It looked amazing, but forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical at this point that it is going to be available soon.

FSD Beta v10.69.2.3 - Unprotected left turns in light fog ðŸ“¹
Chuck is back at it, this time with light fog in his now famous left-unprotected turn. Out of eight tries, Chung only had to disengage once.

Community

Tesla AI Day, Optimus, Dojo with James Douma ðŸ“¹
If the three-and-a-half presentation wasn't enough, here is another hour-and-a-half-long video of Dave Lee and James Douma analyzing the stuff presented during AI day. Jame's insights are always great, thank you for the video.

Tesla Model 3 pulls 35 miles of extra range after its LFP battery charge display drops to zero
We know that cars always have a bit of extra juice to protect the battery but also to not leave you stranded on the road if you cut it too close, but this is usually around 5 extra miles or so. In this test in a Tesla with the LFP batteries, the ones in the standard range Model 3 and Y, the driver was able to get 35 extra miles out of their battery after the display indicated no more miles left.

Over 400 Supercharger locations leaked
Last week, Tesla accidentally leaked over 400 planned locations to their Supercharger network, the community was able to quickly store them, before Tesla took them down, and now they've put the on a Google Map, take a look.

🤓 What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • ETA -  Estimated Time of Arrival
  • EV -  Electric Vehicle
  • FSD -  Full Self-Driving
  • HV -  High Voltage
  • LFP -  Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery
